Colossians 3 cuts to the chase doesn’t it? Paul lays it out there: we are one body and we have been called to peace. After a sufficient list of all that we should cast off—malice, envy, bitterness—he implores us to put on compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, patience and love. He reminds us that we have been forgiven therefore we must bear with each other and forgive each other.
But do you know what I love? In the midst of his thorough explanation I love this three-word sentence:
And be thankful.
To me it reads like this: It’s the least you can do. For heaven’s sake, be thankful. Take a look at Colossians 3 and you’ll see what I mean.
I want to cultivate a lifestyle of thankfulness but most often I get in my way. I need reminders now and then—visual aids pointing me toward truth, reminding me of what is good and encouraging me to let go of what’s not.
I thought I’d share a few of the prints (and printables) I found on Etsy with scripture that encourages thankfulness in me!
