Chocolate Cherry Cake
Contributed by Ashley Terpstra – “This is one of my favorites. The frosting on this is the bomb!”
Makes 10-12 servings
Ingredients
1 15.25-oz. chocolate cake mix
1 21-oz. can cherry pie filling
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
5 Tbsp. butter
½ c. milk
6 oz. chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×13 pan. In a mixing bowl, stir together cake mix, cherry pie filling, eggs, and vanilla until uniform. Pour into cake pan and bake 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. While the cake bakes, make the frosting. Bring sugar, butter, and milk to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Once it boils, remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips. Pour the chocolate mixture over the hot cake when it comes out of the oven. Let cool before serving.
Kitchen Tips
Dress up the cake with sprinkles or candies, but add them right after the frosting is poured, as it hardens quickly. The frosting can also be used to top brownies for an ultra-decadent treat.

Black Forest Trifle
Contributed by Martha Sayers – “Save part of the cake for later or to snack on. This serves a large number of people!”
Makes 12 servings
Ingredients
1 15.25-oz. chocolate cake mix
2 small packages instant chocolate pudding
1 21-oz. can cherry pie filling
8 oz. frozen whipped topping, thawed
Directions
Prepare cake according to directions and let it cool. Prepare pudding mix and let it chill. In a trifle bowl, crumble about one-third of the cake as your first layer. Add half of the prepared pudding as the second layer. Spread half the can of the cherry pie filling on top. Spread a thin layer of frozen whipped topping. Repeat the layers once. Refrigerate before serving.
Kitchen Tips
For an extra touch, save some of the cherries from the filling and dot the top layer of whipped topping with a few cherries. Fresh pitted cherries or maraschino cherries also work well.

Cherry Cobblers
Contributed by Stacy Edwards – “I find, when feeding a large family, that pre-portioned desserts are just easier. These are family friendly and still look fancy!”
Makes 10 cobblers
Ingredients
2 refrigerated pie crusts, thawed for ten minutes
21-oz. can cherry pie filling
½ c. sliced almonds
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use a glass to cut circles out of the rolled-out pie dough. Fit each circle into a greased muffin tin cup, pressing the dough up the sides of the muffin cup. Spoon about two tablespoons of pie filling into each cup. Sprinkle with sliced almonds. Bake 15-20 minutes, until filling is bubbly and the crust is browned. Serve warm.
Kitchen Tip
Use extra pie dough to create mini-lattice crusts for your cobblers, or cut tiny hearts and add them to the tops.
